A 50 ml perfume bottle is usually about 3.8 × 3.8 × 10.5 cm, which needs a minimum internal box of roughly 4.6 × 4.6 × 11.5 cm once clearance and an insert are added. The table below covers the four formats that account for most orders: 30, 50, 100 and 200 ml, plus a three-vial sample set.

| Bottle format | Typical bottle size (W × D × H) | Minimum internal box (L × W × D) | Common construction |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 ml | 3.2 × 3.2 × 9.0 cm | 4.0 × 4.0 × 10.0 cm | Rigid lid-and-base or folding tuck-top |
| 50 ml | 3.8 × 3.8 × 10.5 cm | 4.6 × 4.6 × 11.5 cm | Rigid lid-and-base with foam or card insert |
| 100 ml | 5.0 × 5.0 × 12.5 cm | 5.8 × 5.8 × 13.5 cm | Rigid box, drawer or magnetic flip-top |
| 200 ml | 6.0 × 6.0 × 15.0 cm | 6.8 × 6.8 × 16.0 cm | Rigid box with moulded pulp or EVA tray |
| 3 × 10 ml vials | 2.0 × 2.0 × 8.5 cm each | 8.0 × 3.2 × 9.5 cm | Folding box with die-cut divider |
Every axis needs clearance for packing and removal, plus the thickness of whatever holds the bottle. The short version: bottle dimension plus 8 mm on width and depth, plus 10 mm on height.
Worked example for a 50 ml bottle at 3.8 × 3.8 × 10.5 cm with a 4 mm card insert and a 8 mm top pad: width and depth become 3.8 + 0.6 + 0.8 = 5.2 cm, height becomes 10.5 + 0.8 + 0.2 = 11.5 cm. If that is wider than you want, reduce the insert wall rather than the clearance.
The insert decision changes the box size, so settle it before the dieline is drawn. Changing the insert after the die is cut usually means a new die.
| Style | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid lid-and-base | Retail shelves, gift sets, 50 to 200 ml | Highest unit cost, ships assembled |
| Folding tuck-top | Ecommerce, sample programmes, 30 to 50 ml | Lower cost and flat shipping, less rigid feel |
| Drawer / slide box | Gift positioning, 50 to 100 ml | Ribbon or tab needed to open |
| Magnetic flip-top | Premium launches, 100 to 200 ml | Magnet cost and a thicker wall |
Compare formats on the custom perfume boxes page. For non-perfume gifting, the gift box sizes chart covers jewellery, candles and hampers. If the box ships in a mailer, check the mailer box size chart for the outer carton.
Shipping cost per unit is set by the export carton, not the retail box. A 50 ml rigid box around 4.6 × 4.6 × 11.5 cm fits roughly 60 to 80 units in a 60 × 40 × 40 cm carton once dividers are added. A 100 ml box drops that to about 30 to 40 units.

Compare materialsA typical 50 ml bottle is about 3.8 × 3.8 × 10.5 cm. With 2 to 3 mm clearance per side and a 3 to 5 mm insert, the minimum internal box is roughly 4.6 × 4.6 × 11.5 cm.
From the finished pack. Measure the closed bottle with the cap fitted, then add clearance and insert. The cap and collar often add 1 to 3 cm the glass body does not show.
Rigid lid-and-base presents better for retail and gifting and uses 1.5 to 2 mm board walls. Folding tuck-top costs less and ships flat, which suits ecommerce and sample runs. Both accept the same print finishes.
As a guide, a 50 ml rigid box around 4.6 × 4.6 × 11.5 cm fits about 60 to 80 units in a 60 × 40 × 40 cm carton including dividers. A 100 ml box fits about 30 to 40.
Printed perfume boxes start at 500 pieces with 7 to 15 business days after artwork approval. Unprinted standard boxes start at 50 to 100 pieces with 3 to 5 business days. Samples run 1 to 10 pieces in 5 to 10 business days.
